BRAY CARY HAS A FEW CHOICE WORDS FOR MON SCHOOLS’ FOIA PROPOSAL
“BAD”
“TRICKS”
“MISGUIDED”
“SOMETHING TO HIDE”
Read the commentary, about Monongalia County Schools’ proposed policy change for Freedom Of Information Act requests, by Bray Cary at WBOY:
“Charge for Electronic School Board Records a Bad Idea“:
Thursday, October 7, 2010 ; 01:41 PM
Open government is good government, and that’s why I’m skeptical of a plan by the Monongalia County Board of Education to start charging for electronic records.
This is a bad idea, but we see it time and again in this state. Public information is just that – for the public. When government agencies try tricks like this, it makes me think they have something to hide or they’re doing something they don’t want us to know about. I hope the board reconsiders this misguided idea and does the right thing. |
